Bound By Illness
Chronic illness challenges the mind, and the body, marking a transformative process. Confronting the body’s limitations is a liberating endeavor, but it can be isolating, as traces of an illness are often covered or unseen to the naked eye. Some are hardly visible at all, and exist entirely within the body.
Faced with my own diagnosis, I seek to assemble a community of individuals uncovering their own illness, whether traces of an internal battle present itself on the surface of the body, or buried underneath the skin and invisible to the naked eye. Questioning common stigmas associated with disease, I challenge the relationship between what is viewed on the surface, and the realities of living with both visible, and invisible illness.
